For the second straight season, a Lancaster Bible College women's soccer player has been named North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Ally Brown took home the award in 2011 and this season, LBC sophomore
Monica Horning as won the honor as the conference's best player. Horning enters Saturday's NEAC Semifinal with 19 goals and 9 assists which ranks her second in both categories in the NEAC. She leads the conference with five-game winning goals this season and had three hat tricks this season. She had at least one goal in 9 of 12 NEAC contests as she led LBC to an 11-1 NEAC record.
Joining Horning on the NEAC All-Conference 1st Team are
Whitney Heise and
Sarah Heilenman. Heise leads the NEAC with 11 assists and is fourth in points with 45. She scored in 8 of LBC's 12 NEAC games and became LBC's all-time leader in goals and points this season. Heilenman is the team's top defender as she anchored a defense that has allowed just 0.92 goals per game in NEAC play.
Landing on the NEAC 2nd Team were freshman
Bethany Stein (11 goals, 8 assists),
Ally Brown (7 goals, 1 assist),
Anne Hayward (stellar defender, 1 goal, 1 assist, ability to flip throw has given LBC a significant edge on offensive end) and goalkeeper
Emily Lloyd (six shutouts, 0.92 G.A.A. in 12 NEAC games).
